Group Training Apprenticeship Awards - 2008

“Highlights of Achievements”

KGT and its apprentices and host employers, have taken out numerous awards over the past four years.

• Group Training National Host Employer of the year award, presented to Argyle Diamond Mine 2006.
• Group Training WA Regional Host Employer of the year award, presented to Brolga Construction 2007
• Group Training WA Field Officer of the Year award, awarded to Natasha Cross 2007.
• Chamber of Commerce and Industry apprentice of the year award for the Pilbara/ Kimberley region in 2006 and 2007.
• Master Builders Association Building Excellence Award 2008 for Building Construction Apprentice of the Year – Pilbara/Kimberley Region – awarded to Rhys Egan.
• East Kimberley Aboriginal Achievement Awards – Indigenous Community Business of the Year 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 and Employer of Aboriginal People of the Year 2007.
• Group Training Western Australia Indigenos apprentice of the year- awarded Paul Taylor 2008
• Group Training Western Australia School based Trainee of the year – Stacey Masuda 2008.
• Group Training National Indigenous Apprentice of the Year- awarded to Paul Taylor2008.
• Chamber of Commerce and Industry apprentice of the year award for the Pilbra/Kimberley region in 2008.
• Chamber of Commerce and Industry apprentice of the year award for the Pilbra/Kimberley region 2009.

Community involvement and contribution

KGT’s Management committee is made up of nine experienced community members from finacial, education, training and industry experience. One third are Indigenous.

KGT supports and sponsors a number of local organisations including the Clontarf Foundation, the Kimberley Moon Experience, the Royal Flying Doctor Service, Nadoc Week, the Demons Football Club, the Kununurra Dragon Boat Club, and the Kyle Andrews Foundation, just to name a few.

The organization is heavily involved with schools and youth programs that promote positive experiences and outcomes for the youth in the region with regular vists to remote Aboriginal communities. KGT leads the way in work preparation programs that lead to sustainable job opportunties.
