"Where every individual counts"
A building and construction program for the construction of new housing in Halls Creek / Fitzroy Crossing in partnership with the Department of Housing and Works. Ten Indigenous apprentices were employed by Kimberley Group Training and “hosted “out to the Department of Housing and Works. They were selected from the Halls Creek / Fitzroy Crossing communities. Training was provided by a qualified on-site tradesperson and off the job training was provided by Kimberley TAFE. This program has received wide spread acclaim throughout the region. Of note is the fact that the majority of these apprentices came from communties that experience a number of problems such as drugs and alcohol abuse and poor housing.
In Broome eleven School Based Carpentry & Joinery apprentices commenced their trade in March 2008 and can boast to being the first school based apprentices outside of the metropolitan area.
In partnership with the Department of Education and Training, KGT employs up to 130 Aboriginal school based apprentices every year. This initiative is designed to encourage Aboriginal students to remain at school, whilst choosing a career pathway.

Together with Kimberley TAFE, KGT and the ILC provide training and employment opportunities for young Indigenous men and women from communities across the Kimberley in Tourism and Beef and Cattle production. The two programs provide a safe, supportive training and employment environment where goals are achievable and skills and development are real.
To date the programs have been ongoing and of tremendous success.
