Simone Wardle

Simone Wardle

General Manager – Broome Office

“We have fabulous host employers out there who are extremely dedicated to training apprentices because they see it as investing in the future.  We need to be looking at where our future trades people are going to come from. KGT ensures that this is happening in our region."

Simone has over eighteen years experience working in the Employment & Training Industry. She has been a resident of the Kimberley for ten years. Holds an OH&S Representatives certificate, Cert IV in Training & Assessment and is currently completing an MBA. As the General Manager Simone is focused on providing opportunities, partnerships and access to sustainable employment outcomes through apprenticeship and traineeships within the region.

Simone likes seeing the positive things that have happened with young people through their training. “To be able to commence someone in their chosen trade and then be there when they have successfully completed their apprenticeship is fabulous.  The real buzz is when they get their trade certificate – that’s why we do it.”

Josh John

Josh John

Field Officer

I love working with high school students, opening a few doors for them for their careers. Many schools are just theory based but in this job you can get some real concrete outcomes because students get experience in the workforce, its a real positive impact on the student's lives.

Josh John is dedicated to youth education having worked previously as a primary school tutor at a remote community on the Kimberley peninsular. Now Josh works with school based trainees helping high school students with the transition from school to the work force. I enjoy the mix of working in the large centres to working in the communities, and I'm trying to offer community kids some really solid outcomes. Josh is excited about the career opportunities opening up for communities living on the peninsular due to the growth of the tourism industry. He looks forward to working with these communities in placing youth in tourism careers. Its exciting because the kids don't have to move away from home to get employed, they can live their tradition lives in their community and also have gainful employment, they are able to incorporate their indigenous culture into their work.
